Joel Schoon-Tanis is an artist from Holland, Michigan. Joel has shown his artwork around the United States and other countries as far away as Kenya. Joel’s art has a presence around the world as his murals can be found in many schools, children’s hospitals and churches, including murals in Kenya, Zambia, and Bethlehem.

STATEMENT 

I strive to view the world through a child-like lens – full of color, whimsy and honesty. To do this, I often juxtapose kid-like drawings with more realistic paintings in an effort to help people consider a familiar story or part of nature.
