What can any artist do but reveal what they see? Inner vision reflects emotion, intellect, color and spatial relations. I reveal my personal vision of the world through my painting. While we all may see the same landscape, the same color and experience the same climate conditions, I work to expose a specific personal vision for viewers to consider and enjoy.
I juxtapose energy with bright, clean color and purposeful brush strokes. My subject, the landscape, brings the calm of quiet waters and pastoral stillness to the viewer. When I paint in plein air, I am thinking of the small works of Vermeer, the quick and deliberate brushstrokes of Van Gogh and the dappled sunlight of Renoir. I explore my own reactions and interpretations to the color and subject.
My work is produced with intuition. My intent is to convey mindful balance and harmony. I revel in a peaceful place of contentment, as the busy world can be chaotic and difficult to navigate.
